50 Texts to Make Him Blush (He’ll Read Them Twice)

You sent one line. Nothing clever, nothing you agonized over.

Then you watched the three dots appear. Disappear. Appear again. Four minutes later, he sent back “ok wow.”

Four minutes. For two words. That’s what the right text does to a man. It jams him.

And it’s almost never the clever ones that do it. “Hey handsome” gets a smiley face in six seconds. “You had your sleeves rolled up today and I completely forgot what I was saying” gets four minutes and an “ok wow.”

Below are fifty texts that work the second way. They’re grouped by mood, from sweet to the ones better sent after 11pm, so you can start with whichever one sounds like you tonight.

Soft

The gentle ones. Still catch him off guard. If you want lines with more edge, start with these flirty texts instead.

I caught myself doing your thing today. The way you tap the table twice before you say something serious

I didn’t know I’d picked that up

He didn’t know he did it either. Now it’s in two people.

You have a really good voice

And I feel like nobody’s ever told you that, which is honestly insane

They haven’t. He’ll be weird about it for two days.

You answer the question people are actually asking instead of the one they said out loud. I don’t think you realize you do that

He’s never been told he does it. He’ll notice himself doing it tomorrow.

Sunday night, or the morning of something he’s dreading. There are gentler good morning texts for the ordinary days.

Not gonna make this weird

But I looked at you a second too long tonight and decided you should know 🙈

The first bubble buys her half a second of nerve. The second spends it.

Playful

For when the conversation’s already good and you want to knock it sideways.

You stand differently in the grey shirt. More confident. It’s very obvious and now you know 😳

The shirt was never the point. He’s been caught doing something with his posture.

You’re so annoying

I told three people about you today

The first bubble is cover. The second is the confession. Send it once you’ve spotted the signs he likes you more than a friend.

You have a specific laugh you do when you think something is actually funny versus when you’re being polite. I’ve catalogued both 🙃

He wasn’t aware he had two. Now he’ll wonder which one he’s using.

You lower your voice when you’re talking to just one person. Is that on purpose or has nobody told you

Now he’s wondering whether he does it for everyone or only for you.

Bad news, I described you to my friend and she said “oh no”

She’s right but still 😭

“She’s right” is the part that undoes him. Everything else is setup.

Just so you know, I gave a whole speech about you at brunch today and I’m not taking questions

The refusal to elaborate is the entire joke. Do not elaborate.

This is your fault, by the way

He doesn’t know. He’ll go looking. He’ll enjoy it.

Just an observation

He never noticed the pattern. Looking away first is one of the clearest signs he likes you but is hiding it.

Admitting to the draft is more disarming than the draft would have been.

The first bubble catches him. The second gives him permission, which is worse.

Blames him for something he was doing without thinking. He’ll replay it.

There’s a version of tonight where I don’t go home and we both know it

She names the possibility without proposing it. He has to decide what to do.

You’re going to reread this later. That’s fine

Catches him at something he hasn’t done yet. Now he can’t avoid doing it.

I wasn’t going to tell you this but you looked at me for slightly too long on Thursday and I’ve been useless since 😅

She’s the one admitting to being wrecked. That’s what makes him blush.

Stop. I’m at work

He said nothing. He now knows exactly what you were thinking about. Handy if you’re dating a busy man and daytime is all you get.

I’ve thought about kissing you in about four different locations. One of them was a car park, which I’m not proud of

The unglamorous detail is what makes it real instead of a line.

You have no idea how close you got tonight

To what, I’m not saying

A door opened and shut in two bubbles. He’ll be at it for hours.

If you were here right now I would not be typing

Ten words. Nothing explicit. The most direct thing in the section.

Straight

No teasing, no cover. Just said, plainly. This is closer to what men actually want than most people think.

You’re the only person who asks me a second question. Everyone else asks one and waits for their turn to talk

He thinks he’s just being normal. He is not. Give him something worth asking about with these questions to ask your partner.

You explain things without making anyone feel stupid. Do you know how rare that is or has nobody mentioned it

Nobody has mentioned it. He’ll be pleased for a week.

You’re good at this. Whatever this is, you’re good at it

Refusing to define “this” is what makes him reread it.

I like you and I don’t do that quickly

Eleven words. The second half is what makes the first half expensive.

Every time you walk into a room the whole thing reorganizes around you. I’ve watched it happen twice now

He has never once seen this. It happens behind him.

You remembered the thing about my sister

I mentioned it once, three weeks ago

The receipt is the compliment. She kept count and he had no idea.

People are different around you. Better, mostly. I don’t think you’ve noticed you do that

Not a compliment about him. Evidence of his effect on a room.

I’ve been trying to work out what it is about you and I’ve got nothing. Very annoying

Admits she’s been thinking about it for a while, and can’t stop.

You said something last week that I’ve quoted twice since. I’m not telling you which one

He’ll go back through the whole week. He won’t find it.

You’re much better looking when you’re not trying. I hope that ruins your day

The only backhanded one here, and it gets the fastest reply.

Late Night

After 11pm, when the filter’s gone. Send at your own risk.

It’s late and you’re the thought I keep landing back on. Just so it’s on record

“On record” is the tell. She’s decided to stop pretending.

I’m supposed to be asleep. I’m not, because of you, which feels like your problem now

Hands him the blame for something he did nothing to cause.

Don’t read into this

I was thinking about the drive home. Specifically the part where neither of us said anything

A shared silence, brought back up hours later. He remembers it too.

Says almost nothing and somehow says everything.

Three fragments. Someone who gave up on composing a proper sentence.

If you’re up, say something. If you’re asleep, I’m going to pretend I never sent this

Gives him a job and a deadline. If silence follows, that’s a different question: is he busy or not interested.

I have a whole speech about you and it’s midnight and you’re not here to hear it

Withholds the speech entirely, which guarantees he asks for it.

This is the fourth time I’ve picked up my phone tonight. The first three I put it back down

The count is what does it. He can picture her doing it.
